Guiding New Doulas from Training to Confident Practice

 

The Loving Doula Touch Mentorship Program was created to bridge the gap between doula training and real-world experience.

Completing a certification course is an incredible accomplishment, but many new doulas still feel nervous about attending births on their own.

This mentorship is designed to walk alongside you during your first three births, providing guidance, encouragement, and hands-on support so you can build confidence while developing your own style of doula care.

 

My goal is not to replace your role as the primary doula, but to mentor, coach, and empower you as you gain the experience needed to become a confident birth professional. 

 

What You’ll Receive:

• Personalized Mentorship for Your First Three Births

• Ongoing guidance while serving your first three clients, ensuring you’re never navigating the experience alone.

• Prenatal Support for each client

 

I will:

• Attend one prenatal visit alongside you (in person when possible)

• Observe your client interactions

• Offer constructive feedback after the visit

• Help strengthen communication skills

• Assist with birth planning when needed

• Answer questions before labor begins 

 

Labor & Birth Support

During labor I will provide mentorship through:

• Virtual support throughout labor via phone or video

• Guidance with comfort measures, labor progression, communication, and decision-making

• Help navigating unexpected situations

• Real-time coaching to increase your confidence If labor extends beyond 15 hours, I will transition to in-person support (when location and availability allow) to assist both you and your client while continuing your mentorship. 

 

Postpartum Shadowing Following the birth,

I will attend one postpartum visit where I will:

• Observe your postpartum care

• Watch client interactions

• Provide individualized feedback

• Discuss areas of strength

• Offer suggestions for continued growth

• Help answer breastfeeding, newborn, or postpartum questions if needed 

 

Biweekly Mentor Meetings every two weeks we’ll meet virtually to discuss your progress.

Topics include:

• Birth reflections

• Client communication

• Documentation

• Difficult situations

• Comfort measures

• Advocacy

• Professional boundaries

• Building confidence

• Marketing your business

• Certification requirements

• Questions and concerns These meetings provide a safe space to celebrate successes, troubleshoot challenges, and continue developing your skills. 

 

Additional Mentorship Support

Throughout the program you’ll also receive:

• Direct access to your mentor via text and email for non-urgent questions

• Guidance through challenging birth situations

• Encouragement before and after births

• Feedback designed to help you grow—not criticize

• Resources, templates, and educational recommendations

• Professional development advice

• Business guidance for launching and growing your doula practice 

 

Who This Program Is For

This mentorship is ideal for doulas who have:

• Completed a birth doula training program

• Are working toward certification or recently certified

• Need support attending their first births

• Want hands-on mentorship from an experienced doula

• Desire accountability, encouragement, and professional growth 

 

Program Expectations

As a mentee, you agree to:

• Maintain professionalism with clients

• Keep open communication with your mentor

• Notify your mentor as soon as labor begins

• Attend scheduled biweekly meetings

• Be open to constructive feedback

• Respect client confidentiality

• Continue taking the lead as the client’s primary doula while utilizing mentorship support
